All dogs must pass our screening which includes 2 solo 30 minute walks the first week, (Current Pup Club members can skip this step), followed by a pack walk test with one of our current adventure daycare pups. Once completed they'll join us for an introductory day to see if they are a good fit for our pack.
Intro Days are $125 and include a personalized harness!
All of our Bi Weekly and Monthly Adventure clients must join our Pup Club by booking a minimum of one walk per week on any off weeks they're not in daycare. This ensures all of our Adventure Daycare pups retain the skills they've learned and stay familiar to our walkers.
The Pups and Recreation crew took the best care of our dog, Murphy, while we were away. We never felt quite settled leaving Murphy in doggie daycare or boarding when traveling. From my first conversation with Luigi and our meet and greet with Alison I knew this was the best option for us. The communication through the app was great, photos were shared of Murphy from every visit and he looked so happy. Cannot recommend this crew enough, we will definitely be regular customers.
So very lucky to have found Pups & Rec who are kind and caring with my two dogs. They arrive on time and I receive a report every walk which eases my mind. My 'boys' are a big part of my life and I trust Pups & Rec to care for them when I am not at home. Good people with a great service who come highly recommended by me.
Pups and Rec is the best! My 5yo dog tends to be suspicious of new people and is leash reactive, so I worried about finding a new walker once we moved to the area. But the company immediately alleviated my concerns during the consultation. All the walkers are kind, professional, and well-trained. Our usual walker (shout out to Carleigh) was so patient with my dog through the initial stages and now he adores her. The detailed notes/report card after the visit is a big perk- I really appreciate getting an update on how he did, where they walked, and any photos taken. Highly recommend!
Pups and rec has been a lifesaver for me when I got a new job that requires me to be back in the office. My dog is nervous around new people, especially men, and they worked very well with her to make sure she is comfortable. I am also struggling with her reactivity during walks which they are helping me work through. Highly recommend!
We are delighted with Luigi Alison and Leigh, our team of walkers for our boisterous puppy. They provided skilled training during his walks to compliment our training and our pup’s behavior and reactivity has improved tremendously. They are also flexible, super responsive to changes needed and completely reliable. They have never let us down. I highly recommend.
Every single one of their walkers have always been so sweet, loving, and patient with my puppy. You can see the love they have for animals with every interaction. They also aided us in what to expect and buy for our first puppy and even helped create a schedule for potty training that worked for our work schedule. I can't recommend them enough.
I cannot speak highly enough of Luigi, Allison, and Pups and Recreation. I have two ornery, older Great Danes who are skittish and have very specific needs. Alison and Luigi have been wonderful with them, taking the time to get to know them and to make sure their needs are understood and met. We’ve used Pups and Recreation for walks, check-ins, and overnights and I always know that they will go above and beyond in caring for them. The first time we left them, my nervous female had stomach trouble and Allison kept me fully updated, going out of her way to make rice for her and thoroughly clean up after her. They are so flexible and helpful about schedule — I don’t know what we’d have done if we hadn’t found them
Luigi and Alison watched our dog for 2 nights in March 2024. It was easy to plan the stay as they were responsive, very easy to work with, and answered our many questions. They were on time and took great care of our dog, giving updates along the way and of course sent photos ☺️ We had a bit of a hiccup when our dog wouldn’t come back in the house (from the fenced in backyard) during the drop-in visit and they went above and beyond to get her back in the house safely and stay with her to decompress once she eventually came back in. We’re so grateful for the great care they gave our dog and I would recommend them. Thank you!!
Could not recommend Pups and Rec more! Alison, Luigi, and their team are incredible! From the first phone consultation and meet and greet, you can tell they have such a love and passion for dogs and they would treat your furry friend like their own! They are so reliable, extremely responsive, leave detailed report cards with the cutest photos, and take such good care of my Guinness on their weekly walks. So grateful for the love and attention they give to Guinness!
I am so grateful I found this place. I have always been hesitant about trusting anyone else with my fur child but immediately after talking to Luigi and meeting Alison- I knew I found the right people. Both of them, as well as the other walkers who work there, have been amazing for my dog. I love that they send pictures too!! They truly care about animals, communicate very well, and I highly recommend them for anyone looking for kind, trustworthy, reliable pet care!
Adventure daycare is by application first, then booking. Existing clients can request it through our app, and we will schedule a temperament check-in if your dog has not joined a group outing before. Spots are limited to keep the ratio low, so we recommend booking a few weeks out.
Most dogs are, but not all. We require dogs to be up to date on Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella, spayed or neutered if over 12 months, and comfortable in a small group. Reactive or fearful dogs may be a better fit for private walks first, and we are happy to talk it through at your meet-and-greet.
We rotate through spots across Morris, Sussex, and Warren Counties, plus occasional trips to the Delaware Water Gap and Jersey Shore beaches. Locations depend on the season, the weather, and the group of dogs. You always know the location in advance through our app.
Traditional daycare keeps your dog indoors in a group setting for 8 hours. Adventure daycare takes them out into nature with a handler-to-dog ratio of about 1 to 3, on real trails, with structured exercise and decompression. Dogs come home tired in a good way, not overstimulated from a day of chaos.
Adventure daycare is our seasonal outing service where a small group of pre-approved dogs join our team for a half-day or full-day trip to places like Allamuchy State Park, Lewis Morris Park, Turkey Mountain, Schooley's Mountain, and beaches on the Jersey Shore. Real hikes, real water, real enrichment. Not a warehouse full of dogs on rubber floors.
